Our Story
Mexico Lindo Folkloric Ballet, Orlando/ MLO was founded in 2015 under the leadership of our director, Mrs. Gizela Maldonado. Our mission is to preserve and celebrate the rich traditions of Mexican folk dance by offering dance classes accessible for dancers of all backgrounds ages 8 and up.
We are committed to fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of the Mexican culture through education and performance, while empowering individuals to express their creativity and forge a sense of community.
We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone can participate. We believe that dance is a powerful tool for personal growth, cultural enrichment, and social connection where dancers can tell stories of their Mexican-American heritage using the language of dance.
Through our programs, we seek to inspire future generations to embrace their heritage, to serve as catalyst for others to take pride in their own backgrounds, and contribute to enrich our vibrant multicultural community in Central Florida.

Born in Mexico City, Mrs. Gizela started her dance journey at a young age. She was part of the Folklorico ensemble in middle school and high school. While in college, she joined the National Autonomous University of Mexico Folklorico Ballet. Once she moved to the USA, Mrs. Gizela founded Mexico Lindo Folkloric Ballet, Orlando, with the goal of building bridges between cultures. Mrs. Gizela realized that her students might be the last generation whose parents were born in Mexico, that means many of their traditions might not survive another generation. Passing down her knowledge of Mexican Folklorico dance is her mission, and it is how she contributes to enhancing cultural richness in Central Florida.
Gizela Maldonado Hernandez
MLO Executive Director and Founder
As a first-generation Mexican American, dance has become my way of staying connected to my roots. Over the past two years with Mexico Lindo Orlando, I’ve found a deep sense of belonging and pride — a place where I can celebrate and share my culture with others. Now, as an instructor, I’m honored to share my passion for Mexican culture and dance, inspiring others to celebrate our traditions through movement.

A wife, mother of two, business owner, and content creator. As a stay-at-home mom, I value opportunities that allow me to connect with my heritage and share that connection with my family. Joining MLO has been a meaningful way to embrace my roots and celebrate my culture. I believe it’s important for my children to understand the sacrifices my parents made, recognize the richness of their background, and always appreciate the life and opportunities they have today.
